The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Daniel Okoh, has said the association paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to express gratitude for policies and interventions aimed at supporting poor and vulnerable Nigerians.

Speaking after the meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, Okoh explained that the visit was part of CAN’s engagement with national leaders, especially during the Christmas season, to promote unity, peace and good governance. He noted that the association acknowledged government efforts targeted at easing the hardship faced by many citizens.

According to the CAN president, the delegation used the opportunity to commend initiatives designed to provide relief to the poor, while also encouraging the federal government to sustain and expand social welfare programmes that directly impact ordinary Nigerians.

Okoh added that CAN also shared prayers and goodwill messages with the president, urging him to remain steadfast in addressing insecurity, economic challenges and national cohesion. He emphasized that religious leaders have a responsibility to support policies that uplift the weak and foster harmony across the country.

He further disclosed that the association encouraged President Tinubu to continue engaging faith-based groups as partners in nation-building, stressing that collaboration between government and religious institutions is vital for reaching grassroots communities.

The CAN delegation, which included senior Christian leaders from across the country, reaffirmed its commitment to praying for Nigeria and supporting efforts that promote justice, compassion and improved living conditions for all citizens.
