CONVID-19: NUJ President faults FG’s containment plans

National President of Nigerian Union of Journalists, Comrade Chris Isiguzo has faulted the Federal government’s containment plans over the novel Coronavirus pandemic.

Comrade Isiguzo, also urged the Federal government to emulate the Lagos state and other state to asked categories of staff to stay at home.

Recall that Federal government had ordered all civil servants from level 12 to work from home for fourteen days starting from 23rd of March, 2020.

According the statement signed by Chris Isiguzo, “The Union is not happy that the Federal Government is not doing enough in this regard and calls for the immediate closing down of the Federal Secretariat Abuja and other offices since majority of these workers commute daily to work using public transportation.

“There is also an urgent need for more awareness especially in the rural areas while more Isolation centres and testing kits should be provided in the FCT and in all states of the Federation. And these should be without prejudice to the efforts of respective State Governments”, the statement reads.
