Case statistics of Corona virus On the 13th of May 2020, 184 new confirmed cases and 6 deaths were recorded in Nigeria and no new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours.
Till date, 4971 cases have been confirmed, 1070 cases have been discharged and 164 deaths have been recorded in 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory while states like Cross River and Kogi State has not recorded any before.
Meanwhile, the first virtual Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting was held today during which Buhari named a new chief of staff in the person of Ibrahim Gambari. He succeeds Mallam Abba Kyari, who passed away on April 17, 2020 after contracting coronavirus.
Nigerian Governors, as custodians of the people’s mandate at the state level, have so much expectations placed on their shoulders. These range from policy formulations to execution of sustainable projects targeted at improving the lives of citizens especially in this period of this deadly pandemic.
Admittedly, governance is a daunting task in this period, especially in the face of lean resources. But even in the face of these bad huddles, some helmsmen have shown exceptional capacity to better their societies during this period,while others have appeared as laggards.
