CP Nnanna Summons Onitsha Police Commanders, Orders Tighter Supervision After Head Bridge Incident

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, PSC, mnips, has summoned the Area Commander and all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) serving within Onitsha for a strategic supervisory meeting following the incident recorded at Head Bridge, Onitsha, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

The high-level meeting was held on Thursday, August 20, at the Commissioner’s office in Awka as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen operational supervision, accountability and professionalism within the Anambra State Police Command.

During the meeting, CP Nnanna directed the DPOs to provide detailed briefings on the security situation and policing activities in their respective areas of responsibility.

The Commissioner placed particular emphasis on preventing unprofessional conduct among police personnel and ensuring that officers operate within the rules and regulations governing the Nigeria Police Force.

CP Nnanna warned that any officer found abusing the powers entrusted to him or engaging in conduct inconsistent with professional standards would face appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with established regulations.

He reiterated his zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct, stressing that no individual or group of police personnel would be allowed to undermine public confidence in the Force.

The Commissioner also charged the DPOs to strengthen internal supervision and command control, ensure strict compliance with professional standards and promptly address genuine complaints from residents, traders and business owners across Onitsha.

He assured residents of Onitsha and the people of Anambra State that the Command remains committed to providing effective, professional, accountable and people-oriented policing.

CP Nnanna further encouraged members of the public to report security concerns and genuine complaints through appropriate channels, including the Commissioner of Police’s dedicated WhatsApp line: 09169531886.

He assured the public that credible complaints received would receive the necessary attention and be appropriately investigated.
