D English Alhaji has alleged that the Department of State Services (DSS) is denying the detained BOSYA Youth President, Ibrahim Samaila Kaigama, access to his lawyer and family members, describing the situation as a violation of his fundamental human rights.
In an update on Kaigama’s arrest, D English Alhaji claimed that the DSS had earlier indicated the youth leader would be arraigned in court last week but failed to produce him before the court as expected.
According to him, Kaigama had welcomed the planned court appearance, believing it would give him the opportunity to defend himself and present evidence in response to the allegations against him.
He further claimed that human rights advocates monitoring the case had been informed that the DSS intends to charge Kaigama with extortion and unlawful communication with terrorists. However, he alleged that despite the reported charges, the agency has yet to formally arraign him in court.
D English Alhaji argued that the continued detention without access to legal counsel or family members raises concerns about the protection of Kaigama’s constitutional rights. He also questioned the delay in taking the suspect before a competent court.
The activist vowed to continue following the case and called on Nigerians to remain interested in the matter until due process is observed.
