Human rights activist and 2027 presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has accused the Department of State Services (DSS) of tracking his movements in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where he is attending the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference.
Sowore made the allegation in a post on social media, claiming that DSS operatives had been monitoring his movements since his arrival in the state.
According to him, after delivering a speech at the Kay Hikers gathering, members of his team noticed what he described as “strange movements” and decided to switch vehicles.
He alleged that the decision led to the discovery of an electronic tracking device attached underneath the security vehicle they had used that night.
Sowore, while accusing the secret police of unlawfully monitoring him, said the alleged surveillance showed that the authorities were “really scared.”
The activist wrote: “The lawless @OfficialDSSNG has apparently been tracking my movements since I arrived in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for the Nigerian Bar Association Annual General Conference.”
He added that the alleged tracking device was discovered after his team changed vehicles following what they considered suspicious movements.
The claim has not been independently verified, and the DSS has not publicly responded to the allegation at the time of reporting.
Sowore is currently in Port Harcourt for the NBA Annual General Conference, where he has been participating in activities surrounding the event.
