A man seen in a widely circulated photograph holding a rifle has been identified as “Duna Sani,” one of the top commanders of the notorious bandit leader Bello Turji.
Duna Sani is described as one of the most ruthless members of Turji’s network, accused of killing an uncountable number of people, beheading women, and committing multiple acts of sexual violence against victims in northwestern Nigeria.
Turji himself is said to have boasted in an audio recording that Duna Sani could not go more than three days without killing someone.
Calls have intensified for justice to be served, with many demanding an end to Duna Sani, Bello Turji, and others like them who have long terrorized communities across the region.
