The father of late Mary Habila has insisted that his family does not want an autopsy conducted on her body, saying they are not accusing anyone or suspecting foul play in her sudden death.
Speaking in a trending interview, Habila’s father said the family’s only wish is to have her body released for burial without further delay. He explained that the decision was based on their cultural beliefs and the pain of losing their daughter, not because they were trying to stop the investigation.
He stressed that death can happen unexpectedly and maintained that the family has no reason to point fingers at anyone over the 26-year-old nurse’s passing. However, the Ebonyi State Police Command has insisted that an autopsy remains necessary to determine the actual cause of death.
The case has continued to generate nationwide attention, with many Nigerians divided over the family’s decision to reject an autopsy while authorities push for further investigation.
