Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced the commencement of his campaign efforts for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.
The governor made this declaration during the reception of Kaycee Osamwonyi, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, who recently defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Osamwonyi, who represents the Uhunmwonde State Constituency and serves on the House Committee on Budget and Appropriation, was earlier received into the APC by the Edo State Party Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe. He was later formally presented to Governor Okpebholo at the Government House in Benin City.
While welcoming Osamwonyi and other defectors, Governor Okpebholo assured them of a supportive and collaborative environment to enable them contribute effectively to the development of the state.
He stated, “We congratulate you on returning home. Your decision is a big plus for our party. With five of you joining, our party has become stronger.”
“A lot of people from other political parties are ready to join our party, and soon, there will be a carnival. I seek your help to drive development, and together, we will develop the state and make life better for our people.
