Enugu 2027: Forget Governorship Ambitions, Be My SSG Instead, Uche Nnaji Tells NDC’s Chinyeaka Ohaa, ADC’s Obodoeze Ocho

The factional governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu State, Mr Uche Nnaji, has urged the governorship candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Chinyeaka Ohaa, and the Alliance Democratic Congress (ADC), Obodoeze Ocho, to jettison their governorship ambitions and rally behind his candidacy, promising appointments as Secretary to the State Government (SSG) if he wins the general election.

Nnaji, who spoke through one of his aides on Media and Communication, Ugwuagbo Chizoba, on Thursday in Enugu, urged the opposition leaders to join the Rainbow Coalition, ensure the re-election of the President on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and back his own emergence on the platform of the PDP.

While describing the NDC’s governorship candidate as a “seasoned Federal Civil Servant,” Nnaji insisted that Ohaa was only fit to serve as SSG under his leadership.

He said the Rainbow Coalition had the support and backing of the President through the Wike faction of the PDP, adding that Tinubu knew the coalition was the only path to victory for both the APC and the PDP.

Calling on the ADC candidate to dump Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the ADC, Nnaji assured him of a place in his government.

Insisting that only by stepping down their ambitions and supporting his candidacy could the other candidates guarantee victory, Nnaji lamented that anything short of that would pave the way for Governor Peter Mbah’s seamless victory in the 2027 governorship election.

“We cannot all be Governors at the same time,” Nnaji wrote via the verified Facebook account of his media aide.

Recall that INEC recently published Nnaji’ particulars, listing only his West African Examinations Council (WAEC) certificate as his highest qualification, a development that has renewed allegations that he forged his University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) degree and National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificates.

Nnaji is also facing trial at the Federal High Court in connection with allegations of certificate forgery, abuse of office and money laundering brought by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
