The Enugu State Waste Management Authority (ESWAMA) has announced that its monthly environmental sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday, April 25, 2026, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.
In a public service announcement issued on April 22, the agency urged residents of Enugu to actively participate by cleaning their surroundings, including clearing drainages, to promote a healthier and safer environment.
However, ESWAMA stated that enforcement activities will be relaxed during the exercise due to the nationwide NECO-BECE Examinations scheduled for the same day. The decision, according to the agency, is to allow the free movement of candidates, officials, and other road users.
The Managing Director of ESWAMA, Richard Onaga, emphasized the importance of environmental cleanliness, noting that maintaining a clean environment is a shared responsibility critical to public health, safety, and sustainability.
Residents were also encouraged to cooperate fully with the initiative, as the agency continues to promote its vision of a cleaner and healthier Enugu.
