ESWAMA Confirms Sanitation Exercise Will Hold Without Usual Restrictions

The Enugu State Waste Management Agency (ESWAMA) has announced that the monthly environmental sanitation exercise for May will hold on Saturday, May 31, 2025, but with a notable adjustment — there will be no restriction of movement on that day.

In a public statement released on Tuesday, ESWAMA explained that the decision to lift the usual restriction on vehicular and pedestrian movement was made to accommodate candidates from the state who are scheduled to sit for the National Gifted Entrance Examination on the same day.

Despite the waiver on movement, the agency strongly urged all residents, institutions, and businesses across Enugu State to participate actively in the sanitation exercise by cleaning their surroundings as usual.

“While there will be no movement restriction to allow for unhindered access to examination centres, we encourage Ndi Enugu to remain committed to maintaining a clean and healthy environment,” the statement read in part.

ESWAMA reiterated its commitment to keeping Enugu clean and safe and called on all citizens to support its efforts by ensuring regular sanitation practices, both during and beyond the designated monthly exercise.

The monthly environmental sanitation usually holds on the last Saturday of each month between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., often accompanied by movement restrictions to enhance participation and compliance.
