The FCT Police Command has rearrested two suspected child traffickers and rescued a four-year-old girl allegedly abducted in Kuje, Abuja.

The suspects, identified as Rose Daniel and Blessing John, were arrested on August 27, 2026, while allegedly attempting to flee with the child, Ummi Mariam Abdullah, after a concerned resident alerted the police.

According to the FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had previously been arrested and prosecuted in December 2025 for a similar offence. They were convicted and later released on bail after spending about five months in prison.

Police investigations further revealed that following their release, the suspects allegedly abducted and trafficked four children to different parts of the country. In the latest case, two children were reportedly taken to an accomplice in Port Harcourt, identified as Madam Ijeoma, who allegedly purchased them for N1.5 million each.

The rescued four-year-old has since been reunited with her family, while the suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue. They will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

The police urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and closely monitor the safety and whereabouts of their children.
