
The Federal Government (FG) has approved several major road projects and trailer park concessions across Nigeria, worth hundreds of billions of naira.
The projects include:
1. Ekiti State: Reconstruction of the Ado-Ekiti–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure–Osun border road — ₦159.83 billion.
2. Ogun State: Additional work on the Abeokuta–Iboro–Ilaro Road — ₦54.12 billion.
3. Rivers State: Reconstruction of 15km of the Port Harcourt–Eleme Junction–Onne Port Junction section of the East-West Road — ₦74.51 billion, expected to be completed in nine months.
4. Ekiti State: Phase II rehabilitation of the Ado-Ekiti–Afe Babalola University Road — ₦54.52 billion.
5. Ogun State: Construction of the Ilara–Iselu Road, Phases II–V — ₦94.24 billion, with a 24-month completion period.
The government also approved some projects to be handled through public-private partnerships:
6. Niger State: Development of the 7.9km Dikko–Maje section of the Suleja–Minna Road — ₦56.75 billion, under a 40-year concession.
7. Lagos–Ibadan Expressway: Operation and maintenance — ₦96.43 billion, under a 25-year concession.
8. Abia State: Development of a new trailer park at Aro-Ngwa — ₦19.70 billion, under a 50-year concession.
Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, announced the approvals after the Federal Executive Council meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, chaired by President Bola Tinubu.
