Gov. Hope Uzodimma has received in audience a delegation of Ohaneze ndi igbo worldwide, Imo State chapter led by Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu at the Excos chambers today.
The visit to the governor was a clear act of respect and to present the Presidential candidate of the Ohaneze ndigbo and to seek the support of the Governor towards his candidature.
You may recall that Gov. Hope Uzodimma has been a vocal voice in championing the course and general well-being of ndi igbo in the country and wouldn’t be out of place to lend his support in repositioning the apex socio-political igbo group especially now that the mantle of its leadership has gotten to the turn of imo state.
Presenting the Presidential Candidate, Amb. Prof. George Obiozor to the Governor, the leader of the delegation explained to the governor that the choice of Obiozor was a consensus agreement by all relevant stakeholders of the Ohaneze ndi igbo, imo state chapter having accessed his pedigree and antecedents, sees him as a man that will unite ndi igbo for a common goal and further appealed to the governor to support and throw his weight behind Obiozor’s candidacy.
Speaking at the meeting, Gov. Hope Uzodimma assured the delegation of his continued support to the Ohaneze ndi igbo worldwide and his readiness to work in tandem with their visions for the general good of ndi igbo.
Gov. Hope Uzodimma promised to support and work for the victory of Amb. Prof. George Obiozor in the upcoming Presidential election of the Ohaneze ndi igbo since his candidature was a product of a consensus agreement by stakeholders in the state. He added that he will further seek for the support of his brother governors in the South East to support the candidacy of Prof. Obiozor as the rotational leadership clause in the Ohaneze ndi igbo constitution favors the candidacy of imo extraction.
He commended the leaders and stakeholders for setting the pace in the art of negotiations and strategic thinking as it is pivotal in ensuring that the igbo nation plays an active role in national politics.
