Governors Has No Right To Be Asking The Federal Government For Restructuring – Lauretta Onochie

Lauretta Onochie, Aide to president Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, has said that the Governors has no right to be asking the federal government for restructuring when they have refused to restructure their respective states. Lauretta Onochie made this known while reacting to the statement of the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan. The Senate President had earlier said that the state Governors has to lead by example and restructure the Local Government in their various states before asking president Muhammadu Buhari to restructure Nigeria.

In reaction to the statement of Dr. Ahmad Lawan, Lauretta Onochie supported the opinion of Ahmad Lawan. Lauretta blasted the Nigerian governors who has been busy saying that restructuring at the federal level is the only way to fix the numerous problems of Nigeria. According to Lauretta Onochie, state governors must take their knees off the necks of local government councils so Nigerians can breathe.

For many years, there has been some calls from different people asking the state governments to grant a little bit autonomy to the local governments in Nigeria. According to the proponents of the call to give autonomy to the local governments in Nigeria, if local governments are given a little free hand to perform their duties with full autonomy, there will be proper development in Nigeria. This idea led to the calls for the state governments in Nigeria to restructure and allow local government councils to function properly.
