Hope Came To Imo In The Nick Of Time By Ezeafurukwe Paul Ihunanya

For a long while, the locust consumed Imo State so deep that it almost became a way of life. Varying degrees of illegal practices were instituted and untold hardship was visited upon the people. While trying to cover up the mess, corruption and confusion became the order of the day.

Looting of public funds and properties; abandonment of infrastructures as they decayed; subversion of the people’s will and other forms of infamy so numerous to mention, all with the aim of feasting on the commonwealth of Imo State. This practice created a lacuna in the minds of people to accept corruption as a way of life to make a living.

Reading from the book of Psalms 137:4, for how long shall we continue to sing the lord’s song in a strange land? The people of Imo State yearned for a better life, a greater Imo State where justice is served and seen to have been served by way of restitution on all that had been lost; including but not limited to infrastructural reconstruction, enabling environment for economic growth, security of lives and properties; not leaving behind all stolen properties of Imo State in Lagos!

There is a popular saying that “man propose but God disposes”. In response to the yearnings of the people and in conformity of the above, God in the book of Joel 2:25 declared that he will repay us for the years the locusts have eaten.

Against all odds and the expectations of man, the SUPREME GOD brought in His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma as the Executive Governor of Imo State for the sole purpose of restoring the years the locusts have eaten.

His mysterious process and system remains incomprehensible to human beings and that accounts for the discordant tunes from quarters of those who had for so long devoured our dear State. God sent Hope Uzodimma to serve when Imo State mostly needed one with firm decision to cause positive changes.

In this fight for the soul of Imo State and in the recovery of all properties belonging to the state, a firm decisive and audacious leader was needed – one with political will to stand against all attacks in preventing the will of the people from prevailing.

The ousted PDP-led administration of Hon. Emeka Ihedioha couldn’t withstand the force that equaled him in the fight and that accounted to the attacks on his officials detailed to enforce recovery. Even office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) was degraded by that singular act of the touted occupant in enforcing recovery; which was a clear lack of will and capacity.

Ever since the 3R Government of His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma embarked on the recovery mission, the other people that claimed they were on a Rescue Mission have gone haywire in scampering for a solution to their predicament. Resorting to various approaches including but not limited to brewing unrest in the state so as to approach the Central Government for the declaration of a State of Emergency in Imo State but, they met a willpower greater than they anticipated.

At the last count, the 3R Government has recovered many properties of the state that were illegally acquired by members of the previous administrations. These were not actualized through word of mouth or physical fights but with the law as the instrument of power.

The infrastructural rejuvenation embarked upon by the Shared Prosperity administration has, no doubt, met the yearnings of the people. Various projects have been completed under the one year period of the administration and certainly, by the end of the administration, Imolites would have reasons to celebrate God for sending forth Hope to Imo ka Uzodimma.
