Music manager and entertainment executive Ubi Franklin has claimed that he possesses technology capable of clearing blocked gullies across Lagos State and improving the free flow of water to help tackle flooding.
Franklin made the claim while recounting his experience during a major flood in Lagos in 2018, when several parts of the state were inundated and vehicles were reportedly left stranded in floodwaters.
According to him, he was surprised when floodwater eventually reached his office, despite previously believing that his workplace would not be affected.
He recalled that his Mercedes-Benz C300 was parked at the office with floodwater rising above the bonnet, while his Toyota Prado, which he had used to leave the office, was later affected by water that had reached engine level.
Franklin said workers discovered after returning to the office that some people had allegedly carried out construction activities on roads and blocked several drainage channels, contributing to the flooding.
He also questioned the effectiveness of regular environmental sanitation exercises when drainage channels remain obstructed.
“You tell people to wake up every last Saturday of the month and clean their gullies,” he said.
The music manager claimed he had a technological solution that could help clear drainage channels across Lagos and improve water flow.
“I have something that, if Tokunbo, the commissioner, is ready, I can sit with him and discuss. All the gullies in Lagos will be opened. I have it; it’s a technology,” Franklin stated.
He further claimed that the technology could open up blocked gullies across the state and ensure the free flow of water.
Franklin did not provide technical details about the technology or explain how it works, but said he was willing to discuss the solution with the relevant Lagos State authorities.
