I No Longer Trust the Governor — Kingsley Ubani Speaks on Soludo, Airport Project

A public commentator, Kingsley Ubani, has criticised the Anambra State Government’s second airport project, alleging that the initiative was founded on “lies and deception” and questioning its long-term viability.

Ubani made the remarks in a statement while reacting to expectations surrounding the airport project and its potential economic impact on the state.

According to him, while the airport could be completed to high standards and potentially become an important infrastructure asset, the circumstances surrounding its conception and execution should also be examined.

“Can the airport exist in its finest looks? Yes. Can it be fruitful and enjoy long term impact? That’s the real question,” he said.

Ubani argued that the sustainability and success of major projects depend largely on the foundations upon which they are built.

He alleged that the Anambra airport project was initiated through misleading claims, describing this as a reflection of what he termed a deficiency in the understanding of “deep things” by the state’s leadership.

The commentator also expressed disappointment with Governor Chukwuma Soludo, saying his confidence in the governor had diminished over time.

“I have no problem with some of you who still trust the Governor. I don’t. I used to, but not anymore,” Ubani stated.

He further criticised Soludo’s handling of information surrounding the project, accusing the governor of being “economical with the truth.”

The comments come amid public interest in the development and expected impact of Anambra’s second airport project, with supporters of the initiative highlighting its potential to improve connectivity, stimulate investment and boost economic activities in the state.

Ubani, however, maintained that the ultimate test would be whether the project delivers sustainable benefits to Anambra residents in the long term.

“Time will reveal all rewards,” he concluded.
