I Stole Them for Ritual — Adamawa Man Allegedly Confesses to Taking 27 Female Underwear

A 27-year-old man, Muktar Shehu, has been arraigned before Chief Magistrate Court 3 in Yola, Adamawa State, over the alleged theft of 27 pieces of underwear belonging to a woman.

Shehu, who hails from Zango Ward in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, was brought before the court by the Adamawa State Police Command on allegations bordering on house trespass, theft and criminal charm.

According to the First Information Report presented in court by Police Prosecutor, Danjuma Hamidu, the defendant allegedly broke into the residence of Halima Yakubu on August 6, 2026, and stole 27 pieces of underwear.

The police alleged that the underwear were not taken for ordinary purposes, but were intended for ritual activities.

During police investigation, Shehu reportedly confessed to taking the items and allegedly told investigators that he obtained them for ritual purposes.

Following his arraignment, the Chief Magistrate ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody.

The case has consequently drawn attention to the growing concern over alleged ritual-related crimes involving personal belongings, while the court process is expected to establish the facts surrounding the allegations.

Shehu remains an accused person at this stage, and the allegations against him have not been proven in court.
