The president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed amazement, asking why Nigerians supported and elected him regardless of his lack of wealth.
On Tuesday, the 13th of July, in Abuja, he remembered the solidarity he received throughout his presidential election.
He said he realized he had to do everything he could to represent Nigerians to the highest standard possible.
He said the multitude of individuals that came out to meet him, many of whom waited under the sun for nearly 10 hours, was greater than what anybody can purchase or demand.
He said people were only interested in learning more about who Buhari was. He said he is perplexed why Nigerians tolerate him regardless of his lack of wealth.
He said he is curious as well, and he believed that all he needed to do was represent the country and the people to the highest possible standard.
The president went on to say that Nigerians ought to be proud of themselves for staying united amid problems that could have separated us.
