Idahosa was game-changer in Edo gov race – Okpebholo

OKPEBHOLO

Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has attributed his victory in the 2024 governorship election to his choice of Dennis Idahosa as running mate.

In a statement on Tuesday by Idahosa’s Chief Press Secretary, Friday Aghedo, Okpebholo described the deputy governor as his brother, noting that he won because he made the right choice in him.

The governor disclosed this while receiving some defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party at Okada, the administrative headquarters of Ovia North-East Local Government Area of the state, on Sunday.

Okpebholo noted that he had enjoyed a cordial working relationship with his deputy and assured the defectors that they would continue in the same stead for the good of the people.

“I won because I made the right choice in him. We are working well together. I wouldn’t have won the election if I had chosen another person as deputy,” the governor said.

Okpebholo restated his administration’s commitment to the people of Edo State and its indigenous roots, which he said was the reason he must do his best for the people.

He added, “Why are we working for the Edo people? We are working because we are true sons of the soil.

We are not outsiders. We were not brought in from somewhere else.

“That is why you see us move from executing one project to another. We do not wait until the election period to roll out projects. We do not believe that we can develop in that manner.

“By the time we are three years old as a government, I know people will sit down and thank God. You will thank God for allowing us to serve.”
