If You Can’t Pay for Your Flight Ticket, Don’t Marry’ — Pastor Warns Young Ladies

Pastor

A female pastor has advised young women to prioritize building their careers, securing financial independence and establishing themselves before getting married.

The cleric, while speaking on the challenges women face in marriage, warned young ladies against rushing into marriage without having something meaningful to fall back on financially.

She said, “If you cannot pay for your flight ticket, don’t marry.”

According to her, young women without jobs or a source of livelihood should focus on developing themselves rather than depending solely on marriage for stability.

“If you’re a young lady and you don’t have a job, don’t dream. It is not there by moonlight. If you don’t have anything you’re doing, don’t marry,” she said.

The pastor explained that while men may find it relatively easier to rebuild their lives after difficult circumstances, women can face greater challenges when attempting to start over after marriage.

“A man can navigate his life, but a woman cannot navigate inside marriage. It’s hard, very, very hard for you to navigate,” she stated.

She noted that financial dependence and the difficulty of starting over could cause some women to remain in marriages that are unsuitable for them.

“That’s why you see some women who get married to someone who is not meant for them stay there. It’s not as if they cannot come out. They are thinking about how to come out and start all over again, navigating through life,” she added.

The cleric also observed that the realities of modern marriages differ significantly from those of previous generations, stressing that many men today expect their wives to contribute meaningfully to the household.

“The marriages we see these days are not the same as the marriages of my father’s time. Every man you see wants a helper,” she said.
