The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to combating human trafficking and organized crime, as the Inspector-General of Police, Olatuji Rilwan Disu, pledged full operational support to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons.
This assurance was given on April 21, 2026, when the Director-General of NAPTIP, Binta Adamu Bello, paid a courtesy visit to the IGP at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, alongside a delegation of top agency officials.
During the meeting, Bello commended the Police Force for its continued support and called for deeper collaboration, particularly in the areas of technical assistance and joint operations, to enhance NAPTIP’s capacity in tackling the growing challenges of human trafficking.
In response, IGP Disu emphasized the need for intelligence-driven policing, assuring that the Force would deploy its full operational and intelligence resources to support the agency. He highlighted plans for strengthened joint operations, real-time intelligence sharing, and the deployment of liaison officers to improve coordination.
The police chief also pledged the support of specialized units, including the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) and the NPF National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC), as well as capacity-building initiatives and training programs for NAPTIP personnel within police institutions.
According to the IGP, regular strategic briefings will be introduced to track progress and ensure sustained collaboration between both agencies.
He stressed that the renewed partnership signals a zero-tolerance stance against human trafficking and related crimes, warning that perpetrators will find no safe haven in Nigeria.
