General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketisa has told the flagbearer of the National Democratic Party (NDP), Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings that nobody in the NDC has been spreading falsehood about her candidature.
Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketsia was responding to allegations leveled against the NDC by Nana Konadu’s National Democratic Party, on Okay Fm’s Ade Akye Abia Morning show this Friday, December 4, 2020.
Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings in a recent statement through the General Secretary of her Party Alhaji Frimpong Mohammed dispelled rumors circulating in the media that, she has resigned from contesting the 2020 general election.
Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings in the statement indicated that her late husband was attacked by the same political party he founded.
She adds that the legacy of Jerry John Rawlings was destroyed by some persons in the NDC. She urged Ghanaians to vote for her to redeem the ideologies of her late husband.
However, Mr. Asiedu Nketia in a swift response told Kwame Nkrumah Tikesia that, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings should remain in her own circles with the NDP.
According to him, nobody in the NDC has ever said anywhere that Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings was not contesting the 2020 election.
“I’m sorry but nobody in the NDC has said Nana Konadu was will running for the NDP, that never happened. The issue is that if Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings has a problem with the NDC, then her party is not a good one.
Assuming the NDC is not even contesting this election again, will Akufo Addo give his seat to Nana Konadu? That is a big no. So, we are not ready to go into any competition with her. She should know the reason why the NDP was established”. He noted.
Mr. Asiedu Nketsia believes Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings and her NDP should have liaised with opposition Parties including NDC to rather expose the NPP but that has not been the case.
“We form political parties to wrestle power, so like-minded persons come together to decide how they will run the state. Only one political party can be in power for a period and the rest of the political parties will serve as the opposition.
What surprises me in this country is that some opposition parties are now praising the ruling government instead of criticizing them.
What the opposition must do is to fight the ruling party. That’s the only way we can come to power. So, if an opposition political party is not fighting the ruling government but rather fighting the same opposition party, then that party has lost it”. Mr. Asiedu Nketsia added.
