The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced plans to make the Preliminary Register of Voters for the 2027 General Election available online, following concerns from Nigerians and other stakeholders over public access to the register.
The commission disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, October 26, 2026, by Mohammed Kudu Haruna, Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee (IVEC).
According to INEC, the online publication will complement the physical display of the preliminary register, which was conducted at Registration Areas nationwide from October 9 to 15, 2026.
The exercise, carried out in accordance with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026, provided registered voters with the opportunity to verify their personal details and submit claims and objections as prescribed by law.
INEC said it had taken note of concerns raised by Nigerians and other stakeholders regarding the need to make the register accessible through its online platform in addition to the physical display.
The commission stated that the preliminary register would be accessible through its official online portal at https://display.inecnigeria.org, allowing members of the public to inspect the register more conveniently.
It added that the initiative was part of its commitment to transparency, accessibility and public confidence in the electoral process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, INEC disclosed that it was continuing to process claims and objections arising from the physical display exercise in preparation for the certification and publication of the Final Register of Voters.
The commission fixed December 15, 2026, for the publication of the final register.
INEC also expressed appreciation to Nigerians and other stakeholders for their continued interest and constructive engagement, reaffirming its commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act, 2026, to ensure credible elections.
