What went wrong?
Ngige was Tinubu’s man.
In 2003 when Ngige was abducted and later suspended from PDP, Tinubu as then governor of Lagos state provided a back end supprt for Ngige.
In 2006 when the Appeal court sacked Ngige and returned Peter Obi as the duly elected govervor of Anambra state, there were fears that the presidency under the then President Obasanjo with influence from Uba family would move against Ngige and arrest him, it was the same Lagos that gave him cover and he escaped through Cotonou.
When Ngige eventually returned to the country from his self exile, he joined ACN and became a very close friend of the Burdillion.
He joined Tinubu to found APC in 2013. He was the major Igbo leader in APC during the formation stage.
In 2010, when he ran for governor under ACN and 2013 when he ran under APC, Lagos provided technical support and logistics.
Ngige was rigged out in 2010, as election didn’t hold in the entire Idemili north and south. They stole the voter register of Idemili and brought the one of Zamafara state – making the voters not to see their names in the voter’s registrar.
I am aware that Ngige was neutral in 2023 general elections.
He indicated interest to contest for President to succeed President Buhari in 2023. He officially declared at Alor his home town but had to withdraw from the race when he did not get any favourable nod from the presidential cabal.
Is Tinubu aware that his old time friend is in EFCC custody?
Is Ngige facing a political prosecution for holding a 4-hour meeting with Peter Obi as alleged or being tried for alleged financial misappropriation during his days as minister?
We will keep tracking this case.
