A woman and her firstborn son, Joshua, who were abducted by suspected bandits in Kaduna State, have reportedly lost their lives in captivity.
The woman was kidnapped in December 2025 from Bayan Dutse Narayi in Kaduna South. Her abductors demanded a ransom beyond what her family and members of the community could afford.
According to a Facebook post shared on Saturday by a community member identified as Noble, the family was unable to raise the full amount within the deadline set by the kidnappers.
In a desperate attempt to secure his mother’s freedom, Joshua volunteered to deliver the money the family had managed to raise and negotiate her release. However, on reaching the kidnappers’ hideout, he reportedly discovered that his mother had already died in captivity.
The kidnappers allegedly collected the ransom, held Joshua captive, and later tortured him to death, leaving behind his wife, children, and other grieving family members.
