The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 41 suspects, including principal actors, in connection with the gruesome killing of the Divisional Police Officer of Rano Division, CSP Baba Ali.

The late officer was murdered while on active duty, a development the Command described as a direct assault on law enforcement and the society at large.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the command was deeply saddened by the “brutal killing” of the senior officer, which has sparked widespread condemnation.

“This senseless killing is a grave attack on the very fabric of our society and a direct assault on the sacrifices of our brave officers who risk their lives daily to protect our communities,” the statement read in part.

The incident, which also involved acts of mischief and arson, prompted a swift response from the command. According to Kiyawa, the police have launched a full-scale investigation, which has already led to the arrest of 41 suspects.

Among those arrested, the statement noted, are individuals identified as principal suspects in the killing. The command vowed to pursue all involved in what it called a “dastardly act,” assuring that no stone would be left unturned in the quest for justice.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, assures the public that the Command is fully committed to ensuring the safety and security of all lives and property in the State,” the statement continued.

CP Bakori further called on residents to remain calm and cooperate with the police by providing useful information that could aid ongoing investigations.

“We appreciate the public’s understanding, condolences, and cooperation. We urge citizens to continue to support the police in our mission to protect and serve,” the command said.
