“Kebbi Is Bleeding” — Malami Blasts Insecurity, Poverty After Picking ADC Nomination Form

Malami

Former Attorney-General of the Federation, , has officially secured the African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship nomination form for the 2027 Kebbi State election, declaring what he described as a “State of Emergency on Misgovernance” in the state.

In a strongly worded statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on May 9, 2026, Malami said he could no longer remain silent while Kebbi State continues to battle worsening insecurity, poverty, poor healthcare, economic hardship, and educational collapse.

According to him, over 67 percent of children between the ages of 6 and 15 in Kebbi are out of school, while more than 88 percent of children reportedly live in multidimensional poverty.

Malami also raised concerns over the healthcare crisis in the state, stating that maternal mortality remains among the highest in Nigeria, while malaria and malnutrition continue to claim the lives of vulnerable children and affect pregnant women in rural communities.

On insecurity, the former minister said several communities across Kebbi are under constant attacks from bandits, with farmers abandoning their farmlands and businesses shutting down due to fear and uncertainty.

“This is not the Kebbi we deserve. This is not the future our children deserve,” Malami declared, accusing the current leadership of misplaced priorities while critical sectors continue to deteriorate.

The ADC governorship aspirant promised to restore security, rebuild public education, strengthen healthcare delivery, revive agriculture, create opportunities for young people, and promote accountable governance if elected.

Malami further stated that the era of “empty propaganda and ineffective leadership” must come to an end, pledging to work with the people to rebuild Kebbi into a safer and more prosperous state.
