Kennedy Iyere Distances Self from Peter Obi, Labels ADC Coalition ‘Not Authentic’

Kennedy Iyere, a prominent member and early advocate of the Obidient Movement, has publicly distanced himself from the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and dismissed the recently formed coalition between Obi and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as “not authentic.”

Iyere, in a strongly worded statement, emphasized that Peter Obi did not create the Obidient Movement, asserting that the movement was formed, driven, and handed over to Obi by passionate citizens seeking change. According to him, Obi’s post-election performance in terms of movement consolidation and internal party management has been disappointing.

“Peter Obi didn’t form the Obidient Movement; we formed, drove, galvanised, and bequeathed it to him,” Iyere said.
“For me as an individual, I’m not supporting Peter Obi. If he had strongly intervened in the crisis in the party and grown the Obidient Movement post-election, he would have been on his own the revolution we are talking about.”
