Apex leader of the Labour Party in Imo State and the party’s Owerri Senatorial Zone leader, Sir Basil Maduka, has called on residents of the state to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and actively participate in the 2027 general elections.
Maduka described the PVC as more than just an identification card, saying it represents the power of citizens to elect credible leaders and determine the future of their communities.
The renowned economist and technocrat from Akpodim in Ezinihitte Mbaise warned against voter apathy, stressing that refusing to register or vote comes at a great cost to society.
According to him, when eligible voters fail to exercise their civic responsibility, they create opportunities for individuals without the vision, competence, and commitment to public service to emerge as leaders.
He urged Nigerians, particularly the people of Imo State, not to surrender their democratic rights through indifference, insisting that every vote counts in shaping good governance.
Maduka also expressed confidence in the Labour Party’s readiness for the 2027 elections, stating that the party has resolved its internal challenges and is now united and better positioned to secure victory.
He called on party members and supporters to remain steadfast, mobilize more people to obtain their PVCs, and work collectively toward the party’s success in the next general election.
Looking ahead to 2027, Maduka said the people of Imo East Senatorial District have an opportunity to elect purposeful and people-oriented leaders.
He concluded by urging citizens to reject voter apathy, obtain their PVCs, and use their votes to shape a better future for Imo East, Imo State, and Nigeria.
Signed
Sir. Basil Maduka.
IMO Labour party Apex Leader/Candidate Owerri Senatorial Zone.
