Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, has urged all party members to come out in large numbers to canvass votes for All Progressives Congress party candidates in the upcoming elections.
He underscored the need to sustain the tremendous progress recorded across the state.
Hamzat made the call during the All Progressives Party Congress Campaign Mega Rally for the Lagos West II Senatorial District, held on Monday at Ijanikin, Lagos.
The deputy governor highlighted the importance of every supporter’s vote in securing victory at the polls.
He noted that the exceptional developments witnessed in Lagos were made possible because the people voted for the current administration.
He cited the completion of major infrastructure projects, including Nigeria’s only intra-state railway, one of the few of its kind in Africa.
Hamzat urged the party faithful not to disappoint their leader and President, Bola Tinubu.
“We need to show our support by voting massively for our candidates.
“There is no other party in Lagos that is engaging with the people and delivering on promises the way we are.
“We urge everyone to go out, support the party, and cast your votes,” he said.
The deputy governor highlighted some of the key achievements of the present administration, including extensive road construction, modern hospitals, and revamped schools.
He said, “These have significantly improved the quality of life in Lagos.”
Hamzat reassured that the government would continue to demonstrate its commitment to progress and ensure to build a ‘Greater Lagos Agenda’ together.
The deputy governor also lauded the state cabinet members, who he said were performing excellently.
“We are proud of their efforts. And we must build on this progress by ensuring every one of us comes out to vote for our party candidates during the local government elections.
“Our party is moving forward, and we must support both our female and male candidates because they are all competent and dedicated,” Hamzat said.
The deputy governor admonished Lagos residents to remain calm and confident.
He advised them to be focused on their civic responsibilities, emphasising that only through a massive turnout could the continuity of good governance and ongoing development be secured.
Earlier, Chairman, Campaign Council, 2025 Local Government Election, Alhaji Babatunde Balogun, appealed to all the chairmen and councillorship candidates of the Lagos West Senatorial district to unite as one for the continuous development of their localities.
Balogun said that those who became the flagbearers were fortunate.
“If you are qualified to become a candidate, particularly the candidate of this local government, you must be capable enough to bring development to your council and your local government area.
“As flag bearers, I appeal to you all to court a positive relationship with those who didn’t make it during the primaries.
“Bring them along and advise them to join you to unite the council as a whole so that you can become a formidable team for our opponents,” he said.
Also, in her address, Princess Sarah Sosan, former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, encouraged women to turn out in large numbers to vote for the party in the forthcoming election.
She stressed the crucial role their votes would play in sustaining local government progress.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the event was attended by APC chieftains, including members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, members of the National and State Assemblies, and members of the State Executive Council.
Others in attendance included executives of the APC at the state, local government, and ward levels, as well as representatives of market associations, transport unions, ethnic groups, party loyalists, and other stakeholders.
