
Lagos State has emerged as the state with the largest number of registered voters in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections, according to figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The state has 7,488,633 registered voters, placing it ahead of Kano State, which has 6,570,276 voters.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, disclosed the figures in Abuja while giving an overview of Nigeria’s voter population, which he said has surpassed 103 million nationwide.
Kaduna State ranks third with 4,662,640 registered voters, followed by Katsina with 3,876,051 and Rivers with 3,736,434.
Other states among the top 10 include Oyo with 3,588,111 voters, Delta with 3,525,988, Benue with 3,057,225, Ogun with 3,037,981 and Bauchi with 3,012,547.
At the lower end of the voter register, Ekiti has 1,055,708 registered voters, while Bayelsa has 1,200,691.
The Federal Capital Territory has 1,732,043 registered voters, placing it ahead of Yobe, which has 1,733,641, and Gombe with 1,768,566.
