Liverpool set to battle Chelsea for €70m rated Nigeria striker

Liverpool are set to battle Chelsea for the signing of Nigeria and Lille striker, Victor Osimhen, during the January transfer window.

Following his amazing performance this season which is his debut season in Ligue 1, Osimhen has stolen the heart of everyone in Europe, and his super performance has not only been linked to his club but also to his country.

Chelsea football club of England has been linked to him as a back-up to their top scorer Tammy Abraham, since the transfer ban on the club has been lifted by FIFA and with Giroud set to leave the Blues in search for playing time.

Other clubs in Europe have also shown interest in the Super Eagles star, such as Tottenham, Barcelona, Liverpool.

According to Sky Sports, Osimhen is also on the transfer target list of Liverpool who just got Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg.

Osimhen has netted nine goals in 17 league appearances this season, bagging two in five in five Champions League games.

According to Football365, Lille are aware of the interest shown by different clubs in Europe and he is been rated around €70m.

However, there’s also a big doubt if Liverpool are prepared to spend €70m on the Lille forward who wil serve as a back-up to Firmino, with Origi also in the mix who has been in good form since last season.
