A 45-year-man, Rasheed Ogunmefun, was on Monday docked at an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly obtaining N300,000 from an accommodation-seeker.
Ogunmefun, whose residential address was not mentioned in court, is facing a charge of obtaining money under false pretences.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Mary Ajiteru, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on April 6, at noon at No. 34, Ijale St., Gbadi-Agric in Ikorodu.
Ajiteru said that Ogunmefun fraudulently obtained N300,000 from a complainant, Mrs Gbadi Somachi on the pretext to rent an apartment for her, which he refused to do.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 314 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The magistrate, Mr O. M. Dawodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
