A Nigerian man has alleged that operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) broke down the door of his residence during an early-morning operation, claiming that the officers failed to identify themselves before gaining entry.
Recounting the incident, the man said he was asleep when he heard repeated banging on his door. According to him, he asked who was there because he initially feared that the people outside might be criminals attempting to break into his home.
He alleged that the operatives did not properly identify themselves or explain why they were at his residence before forcing the door open.

The man further claimed that the EFCC operatives took his phone, searched through his electronic devices and inspected his belongings for possible evidence.
He also alleged that his property was damaged during the operation and questioned what he described as a growing pattern of complaints from young Nigerians about alleged heavy-handed EFCC raids.
According to him, he believes some arrests may be conducted in a manner that leaves suspects feeling humiliated, particularly when images of arrests are subsequently used to demonstrate enforcement activities.
He argued that law-enforcement agencies should ensure that the rights of citizens are respected during investigations and arrests.
The man has now called on people who have experienced similar incidents to document their experiences and share verified evidence, saying that accountability is necessary whenever allegations of misconduct arise.
