A man has reportedly been apprehended in Lagos after allegedly eating food worth about ₦324,000 at a restaurant without making payment.

According to the restaurant owner, the man had been patronising the establishment for more than two months. She alleged that whenever he purchased food, he would tell the salesgirl attending to him that he had transferred the money directly to the owner’s bank account.

The owner said the alleged scheme came to light when she happened to be at the restaurant and the man reportedly attempted the same method.

Suspicious of his claim, she allegedly checked the restaurant’s transaction records to verify the transfers he had purportedly made over the previous two months.

According to her, no corresponding transactions were found in the account records, raising concerns that the man had allegedly been collecting food without paying.

The man was subsequently apprehended and reportedly handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.
