A man identified as Tony has been apprehended in Abia State following allegations that he sexually abused his 13-year-old biological daughter over several years.
The case came to light after concerns were raised over the alleged abuse of the minor, who reportedly told investigators that the abuse began when she was nine years old.
During questioning, Tony reportedly admitted to having sexual contact with his daughter but claimed that it occurred only twice. His daughter, however, gave investigators a different account, stating that she could not remember the number of times the alleged abuse occurred.
The teenager also reportedly identified the suspect as her biological father and said the alleged incidents took place at their home.
Authorities are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the allegations, including when the abuse allegedly began and the extent of the incidents.
The case has also raised renewed concerns about the protection of children from sexual abuse within homes and the need for suspected cases to be promptly reported to relevant authorities.
The investigation is ongoing, while appropriate legal and child-protection measures are expected to be taken based on the findings.
