MEDEAMA 1-0 ASHGOLD: Prince Of Goals Sends Ashgold Back To Obuasi Empty-handed

Medeama SC returned to winning ways in the 2019-2020 Ghana Premier League when they pipped fellow title hopefuls Ashgold 1-0 at the Akoon Park this afternoon.

Striker Prince Opoku Agyemang’s second half strike from the penalty spot handed Ashgold back-to-back defeats in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.

The Yellow and Mauves were the better of the two sides, launching constant attacks at the blast of the whistle and on one of such occasions striker Prince Opoku Agyemang missed a sitter.

Characteristic of the sharp-shooting forward he tested the visiting goalkeeper once again as he stunged his palm with a powerful freekick.

The barrage of attacks failed to yield any goal as the referee blew his whistle for the end of the first stanza of the game.

Medeama started the second half the same way they began the first and were rewarded with a penalty which Prince Opoku Agyemang duly converted in the 64th minute to send the stadium into raptures.

With a second defeat staring at the Miners in the game they took the game by the scruff of the neck creating a number of half-hearted chances but to no avail as goalkeeper Eric Ofori Antwi had answers to all the attacks of the opposition.

Tried as much as Ashgold can, none of their efforts yielded a goal which gave victory to the home team as they returned to winning ways following their narrow loss to Dreams FC last Sunday.

The win means the Tarkwa-based side have masterminded the downfall of the three big sides in the country’s top-flight
