The identity of the pilot who nearly ran over Fuji music icon, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM1, on a runway has been revealed. The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, has since gone viral, drawing massive attention online.
Captain Oluranti Ogoyi, fondly called “Rantilicious” by friends and colleagues, was at the controls of the aircraft involved in the near-miss. Sources allege that KWAM1 had blocked the runway area, reportedly delaying the aircraft’s movement and prompting a tense encounter.
Captain Ogoyi, a seasoned pilot with over 10 years of flying experience, is the daughter of Nigerian politician Senator Felix Kola Ogunwale, who represented Osun Central between 2003 and 2007. She previously flew with Arik Air for several years before joining ValueJet, where she became a full captain in September 2021.
Industry insiders describe her as highly disciplined and professional, adding that runway interference incidents like this could pose serious safety risks.
