The Promoter of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), Umar Ardo, has clarified that his opposition to the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) is not targeted at any individual political figure, including opposition leaders.
Ardo stated that his concerns are rooted in what he described as “irregularities” surrounding the party’s registration process, which he insists remain unresolved.
According to him, he had personally reached out to individuals close to former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, advising that if there were considerations of joining another political platform, alternatives other than the NDC should be explored due to the unresolved issues.
He also claimed to have raised similar concerns with former Kano State governor and NNPP leader Rabiu Kwankwaso, but said both politicians proceeded with their decisions to join the party regardless.
Ardo maintained that the situation has not improved, insisting that his objections are not politically motivated or on behalf of any group, including ADA, but are personal concerns about what he described as a “national fraud.”
He stressed that the credibility of the party’s registration process must be addressed, arguing that political legitimacy cannot be built on unresolved procedural issues.
