The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced that online registration for its Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 47/2026 recruitment exercise will open on Thursday, September 3.
The announcement was published on the NAF’s official social media account on Wednesday.
Prospective applicants have been advised to use only the official recruitment portal, [NAF recruitment portal, https://nafrecruitment.airforce.mil.ng, for the exercise.
The recruitment is for Airmen and Airwomen and covers two categories: Non-Tradesmen and Women, and Tradesmen and Women. It does not apply to the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC), which is a separate entry route for graduate officers.
The NAF said applicants should wait for the official guidelines for the 47/2026 exercise before submitting their applications, as eligibility requirements, available trades and other conditions may differ from previous recruitment exercises.
Recent BMTC exercises have generally required applicants to be Nigerian citizens by birth, single, medically and physically fit and without criminal convictions. Applicants are also typically required to possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
Non-trades applicants in previous exercises were generally required to be between 18 and 22 years old and possess at least five credits, including English and Mathematics, in relevant secondary school examinations.
Trades applicants usually require additional qualifications, including a National Diploma, Nigeria Certificate in Education, trade test certificate or other recognised credentials, depending on the position.
Applicants will be required to complete their registration through the official portal and print all documents generated after submission.
The NAF has repeatedly warned prospective recruits against paying money to individuals claiming they can facilitate applications, secure shortlisting or guarantee recruitment.
The application process is free, and the force does not use agents or intermediaries for recruitment.
Applicants have been advised to rely only on information published through the official NAF recruitment portal and the force’s official communication channels for updates on shortlisting, aptitude tests and interviews.
The recruitment portal may continue to display that no exercise is ongoing until registration officially opens on September 3.
