NBTE Approves 33 Programmes for Nasarawa State Polytechnic

The National Board for Technical Education has announced the accreditation and approval of thirty-three programmes at the Nasarawa State Government-owned Isa Mustapha Aqwai I Polytechnic, Lafia, in its efforts towards advancing technical education in the state.

In a letter addressed to the institution’s Rector on April 8, 2025, and signed by the Director of Polytechnic Programmes Department, Dr. Fatima Umar, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, the NBTE disclosed that the approved programmes are to commence academic sessions from the 2025/2026 academic year.

The Director of Information, Public Relations and Protocol of the institution, Mukhtar Wakeel, disclosed this in a press statement on Thursday, which was made available to journalists in Lafia, the state capital.

He noted that the historic milestone achieved by the Polytechnic would significantly broaden its horizon for technical education advancement, professional development, and expand its global competitiveness and presence.

“This development is a key testament to the institution’s steadfast commitment to enhancing science and engineering skills in the technical education landscape of the nation.

“IMAP is poised to become one of the nation’s five most competitive polytechnics through professional expertise, collaboration and determined contribution to national and international communities,” he said. 

Wakeel mentioned the 16 courses newly accredited by the NBTE include National Diploma Urban & Regional Planning, ND Estate Management & Valuation, ND Quantity Surveying, ND Accountancy, ND Local Government Studies, ND Business Administration and Management, ND Public Administration, ND Civil Engineering Technology, ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology, and ND Mechanical Engineering Technology.
