A Nigerian woman has shared the story of how she married her husband when he was an Okada rider with little financial means, revealing how their lives changed over the years as he built a successful photography business.
The woman, whose comments have sparked reactions online, said her husband was an Okada rider when they met and could barely afford their wedding expenses.
According to her, her husband, who is now the CEO of King Flash Photography, had very little at the time and lived in a Lungu area of Suleja.
She recalled that she was initially considering marrying someone abroad when she planned to settle down in 2008 or 2011, adding that she and another man had already gone as far as having an introduction before she reconsidered the decision.
Reflecting on her marriage, she said she chose to stay with her husband despite his financial situation and encouraged young women not to judge potential partners solely by their present circumstances.
She explained that when they got married, she told her husband not to worry about the cost of the wedding because she believed things would eventually improve.
Years later, she said their situation has changed significantly, with the family now owning properties in Abuja and other locations.
She attributed their progress to God’s faithfulness and said their experience over the past 15 years taught her the importance of looking beyond a person’s current financial status when choosing a life partner.
Her message to young women was that marriage should not be based solely on wealth or material possessions, as circumstances can change over time.
