No Casualties as 40-Foot Container Falls on Lagos Road, LASTMA Begins Evacuation

40-Foot Container Falls on Lagos Road

A 40-foot container fell onto the road at the Iganmu Bridge by Iveco, inward Orile, in Lagos State, on Wednesday morning, leaving emergency responders to begin evacuation operations.

The incident occurred when a loaded Mack truck reportedly lost control while attempting to climb the bridge, causing its container to fall and occupy about 90 per cent of the roadway.

Despite the extent of the obstruction, no casualty was recorded.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) confirmed the incident in a post on its official X account, stating that its rescue team had been mobilised to the scene to remove the fallen container.

A video shared by the agency at about 5:27 a.m. showed emergency responders at the scene as efforts to evacuate the container got underway.

LASTMA also stated that traffic was not affected at the time of its report, despite the large portion of the road occupied by the fallen container.
