Nollywood actress and filmmaker Adunni Ade is mourning the loss of her mother, who died on Sunday, October 18, following a prolonged illness.
The actress announced the sad development in an emotional Instagram post on Monday, expressing her pain over the loss while entrusting her late mother to the mercy of Almighty Allah.
Adunni began her announcement with the Islamic expression, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” meaning “Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him we shall return.”
Describing her mother’s passing as a painful loss, the actress said she died after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.
She also revealed that her mother left behind children, grandchildren, sisters and other family members who will continue to cherish her memory.
In her tribute, Adunni prayed for Allah to forgive her mother’s shortcomings, grant her mercy and make her grave spacious and filled with light. She further prayed that her late mother would be admitted into Al-Jannah Firdaus, the highest level of paradise in Islamic belief.
The grieving actress also asked Allah to grant the family patience and strength as they navigate the difficult period.
Expressing her enduring love for her mother, Adunni wrote, “Mum, I love you. May Allah grant you eternal peace and reunite us in Jannah. Ameen.”
The actress disclosed that funeral arrangements would be communicated at a later date.
Following the announcement, colleagues, fans and well-wishers have continued to send condolence messages and prayers to the actress and her family as they mourn their loss.
