The Convener of the Katsina Security Community Initiative, Dr. Bashir Kurfi, has revealed fresh details surrounding the controversial peace meeting held with notorious bandit kingpin Abdurraman Jankare, who is accused of killing an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in Katsina State.
According to Dr. Kurfi, Jankare not only masterminded the brutal murder of the senior police officer, but also paraded the slain officer’s uniform around the areas under his control, where fellow bandits allegedly hailed him for the act.
Speaking on the now-viral peace dialogue, Kurfi disclosed that Jankare and his gang members dictated strict conditions before agreeing to show up. One of their demands, he said, was that police officers must attend the meeting without their uniforms.
Dr. Kurfi further alleged that the bandit leader arrived at the meeting carrying the uniform of the ACP he had killed, a move that stirred outrage among security observers and the public after footage of the encounter circulated online.
