The Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Ondo State chapter, Dr. Gbenga Fasua, has issued a firm warning to the Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in the state, cautioning them against operating outside the administrative framework established by law.

In a statement released on Friday, Dr. Fasua reminded all officials of the 33 LCDAs that they remain under the jurisdiction of the 18 constitutionally recognised Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Ondo State and should not function as independent governing bodies.

“It is imperative that all issues, complaints, and administrative correspondences from the LCDAs be routed through the parent Local Governments before reaching the State and Federal Governments,” Fasua stated.

He emphasized that the LCDAs are subsidiaries of the LGAs and therefore must conform to the proper chain of command in all official dealings. Describing any attempt to bypass this protocol as a serious administrative violation, he warned that such actions would undermine effective governance at the grassroots level.

“It is an aberration for any LCDA official to sidestep this established process. We urge everyone to adhere strictly to this guideline to promote orderly governance and effective communication,” he cautioned.

Dr. Fasua noted that the clarification became necessary to forestall potential confusion and ensure seamless administration across Ondo State’s local government structure.

The ALGON chairman reaffirmed the association’s commitment to maintaining unity and structure within the local government system for the benefit of residents across the state.
