The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has refuted a media report alleging internal wrangling within the party, describing it as a baseless fabrication aimed at causing disaffection among party faithful.

In a statement signed and made available to newsmen on Wednesday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaye, the APC described the report which claimed that a political showdown was imminent in the party, as the handiwork of mischief-makers bent on sowing discord.

The statement categorically dismissed the alleged meeting between the state chairman, Engr. Ade Adetimehin and local government party chairmen in Abuja, stating that such a meeting never held.

According to Kalejaye, “The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress is not polarized. On the contrary, the party is waxing stronger and remains united under the leadership of the State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa.

“The recent publication by an unknown author, who alleged that a political showdown is brewing in the state chapter and that the state chairman held a meeting with LG chairmen in Abuja to take critical decisions ahead of 2027, is entirely false and mischievous.”

Kalejaye further noted that the local government chairmen expressed shock and disbelief over what he described as a “wicked imagination and outright falsification.”

He said, “We want to say categorically that no such meeting took place in Abuja. The local government party chairmen were alarmed by the outright falsification. The claim is nothing but a figment of the writer’s imagination.”

Reaffirming the leadership structure of the party in the state, the APC noted that Governor Aiyedatiwa remains the undisputed leader and that no major decision could be taken without his consent.

“Mr Governor is the leader of the state chapter, and no major decision can be taken without his consent and endorsement, including the issue of who contests for whatever elective position,” the statement said.

While appealing for calm, the party urged its members and supporters to disregard the false report and continue to support the current leadership.

“The Ondo APC is known for its cohesion and stability. We appeal to our leaders and teeming supporters to keep faith with the party and its leadership,” the statement added.

The party also assured that Governor Aiyedatiwa is focused on delivering both physical and economic development to the state and that every effort is being made to create an enabling environment for the implementation of his plans.

“Our party remains committed to pursuing goals and aspirations that promote the well-being of our faithful in particular and the state in general,” Kalejaye said.
